The Maryland Department of Natural resources began updating National Wetlands Inventory (NWI) mapping of wetlands in Maryland in early 1990s. This database provides a simple and effective means of documenting the date and status of wetlands mapping in Maryland. It is a companion reference to the 'DNR Wetlands' maps and associated metadata.
